Calligraphy

Lucia Eames studied calligraphy as a member of The Friends of Calligraphy; she enjoyed taking workshops in San Francisco and even involved two of her daughters. Her alphabet, monogram and word studies presented far more than rote practice of forms; they exuded a rhythm and artistry imbued with elegance, humor, and playfulness.

Her ebullient lettering—festive with color, placement and play of scale—were a delight to receive, whether as a holiday card, thank-you note or letter.  Such was the admiration for these communications that several pieces are known to be framed for safekeeping and continued viewing.
